Queer Youth, Ours or Theirs?
Thursday, 27 March 2008

Monday March 31 at 11am-noon

Chris Thomas interviews author Kai Wright which documents the lives of three young gay men in Brooklyn, N.Y. Drifting Toward Love tells the stories of Manny, Julius, Carlos, and their friends, young gay men of color desperately searching for life's basic necessities: homes that provide more than shelter and security against more than violence or disease. As these teenagers navigate the rocky waters of adolescence, they wade through pains and passions that are typical of any young person coming of age. But they do so with few resources -- material or emotional -- in a world where the cards are stacked against their success.

Are Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual or Transgender youth our youth? Pedro Angel Serrano explores the critical connections, including some missing connections between the Adult LGBT community and our youth, including whether we claim them or fight for their rights. Pedro interviews Rob De Anthony, member of the NJ based Our Youth as well as Luscious Lola, a public relations person.
