The United Kingdom’s sodomy laws became enshrined in the laws of it’s colonies, which later freed themselves politically from the UK, but the baggage of the sodomy laws persists in many former colonies and tonight be’ll be talking about Botswana and Kenya, 2 former British colonies. Tonight we’ll focus on Botswana and Kenya. One a success, the other not, but a failure with a silver lining.

Yvonne Oduor is a feminist who uses their background as a trained journalist to advocate for the human rights of gender and sexual minorities in Kenya. She discusses the failure of their court battle on the sodomy law but success of a court orded recognition of intersex people.
