Mass. Gay Progressive Candidate for Congress Fights Back Against Sex-Panic Attack from Corporate Dems

In today's Massachusetts primary, progressive out-gay candidate Alex Morse, 31-year-old Mayor of Holyoke, MA and former university instructor, is challenging entrenched corporate mainstream Democrat Richard Neal, chair of powerful House Ways and Means (tax-writing) Committee. Morse was recently subjected to an attempted takedown, using vague accusations -- but no actual accuser -- of "inappropriate sexual relationships" with students, none of whom he taught. Now The Intercept, the investigative website, has revealed that the attack had been planned for months and was driven by the career ambitions of a College Democrats leader with the help of state Democratic Party officials. But Morse is fighting back. Out-FM co-producer Bob Lederer will interview Kevin Henderson, a queer and feminist theorist, and political science PhD student at the University of Massachusetts, who cowrote a recent article in Boston Review analyzing the attack on Morse as a classic sex panic trading on age-old homophobic stereotypes to take down a political opponent.
