City Retired Workers Decry Medicare

City Retired Workers Decry Medicare "Disadvantage"

(above, June 30th 2021 demonstration)

On Friday, September 24th  at 4 PM at New York City Hall, Cross Union Retirees Organizing Committee (CROC) held a "Die -In" to protest a plan to force retired city employees into a for-profit Medicare" Advantage " program. That plan, like others of its kind, would save money for the city as it imposes higher costs and lower services on vulnerable older people. In this interview, organizers Julie Schwartzberg and Christina Fuentes explained the issues. The plan will affect more than 250,00 retirees  now and thousands of other workers in the future. We'll hear the implications and hear an updated.

Part 2 of "Let the Record Show" interview with Sarah Schulman

In this last part of Bob Lederer's interview with Sarah Schulman they discusses important strategic leadership by women in the group, not only of the campaign to change the CDC definition and the Women’s Caucus. They also discuss the impact of the Latino caucus on the group's organizing efforts and their accomplishments. The segment also discusses the Insurence committee of ACT UP and how it helped win healthcare access for 100s of thousands of people with HIV. Part 1 is here.
