Parallel with its frontal attacks/rollbacks of the rights of people of color, immigrants, and women, the Trump Administration has assaulted hard-fought gains in defending the human rights of LGBTQ+ people, making trans people Public Enemy #1. For the hour, Out-FM's Bob Lederer and Stahimili Mapp will talk with Erin Reed (she/her), a transgender journalist based in Washington, D.C. She tracks LGBTQ+ legislation around the United States for her subscription newsletter, ErinInTheMorning.com.

Among the topics we will review:
1) federal censorship of LGBTQ- and trans-specific information (websites, etc.)
2) federal attacks on gender-affirming care and honest information by federally-funded institutions (whether healthcare-based or otherwise)
3) responses to these and related dictates (like anti-DEI) by nonprofits, schools, universities, etc. -- both anticipatory compliance and resistance
4) the poll showing U.S. residents are "queerer than ever."

STOP THE BROOKLYN JAIL - Noise Demo, Thurs., March 6 @ 6 PM

NYC is building a new $3 billion Brooklyn jail while breaking promises to decarcerate and shut down Rikers by 2027. The Brooklyn jail is one of four Borough-based jails slated to cost the city $16 billion.

There will be a Noise Demo this Thursday, March 6 @ 6 PM at 275 Atlantic Ave., the site of the jail under construction. It's sponsored by the NYC Chapter of the Weelaunee Defense Society, part of the national StopCopCity movement, which we have covered here on Out-FM. The Society invites folks to "join us as we build an abolitionist movement capable of shutting down every NYC jail." Thanks to Firefly for this information.
