Journalist Afeef Nesssouli discusses his extended experiences in Gaza during spring 2025. He focuses on the situation of queer people trying to maintain community during the Israeli genocidal blockade of food and other aid. Producer Naomi Brussel also interviews Nessouli about the struggle for HIV medications and treatment in Gaza.
 
Afeef is a journalist and host of "With Afeef Nessouli." He recently spent nine weeks in Gaza as a humanitarian aid worker with Glia international, and as a reporter with The Intercept. He also currently teaches Social Media & Communications at Parsons in New York City. He previously worked for Spotify and The Wall Street Journal's daily news podcast "The Journal," The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, CNN, and as a legal advisor to the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Torture. Now, his reporting focuses on US politics, the Middle East and queer stories around the world. Afeef lived through the 2006 Lebanon war and went to prison in Beirut for covering Palestine in 2011.

Victor Manibo is a Filipino novelist living in New York. A 2022 Lambda Literary Emerging Voices Fellow, he is the author of the science fiction novels The Sleepless and Escape Velocity from Erewhon Books. Victor was one of five authors on the flagship "Resistance" panel at the 2025 Rainbow Bookfair. He discusses how he came to write science fiction and the evolution of the genre from "great white man"-centered storytelling to a multifocal storytelling mode. He also talks about how resistance and revolution are popping up all over the genre.
