Join us for a discussion with Mary Helen Washington, noted African American scholar, to discuss her new biography, Paule Marshall: A Writer’s Life. 

Out-FM producer Stahimili Mapp will discuss with Washington the tremendous impact Marshall had on the Black literary community in the late 20th  and early 21st Centuries. Her iconic novel Brown Girls Brownstones is still considered to be a bedrock early exploration of Caribbean culture in Brooklyn. 

Washington also brings to our attention Marshall’s queerness, not often discussed in Black literary circles.
