Mayoral Democratic Primary Race Analysis
On Tuesday's show, Stahimili Mapp will talk with trans activist and political scientist Pauline Park, who will offer an in-depth analysis of New York City's June 24th Democratic mayoral primary race. Like the 2021 election, this one will be conducted using Ranked Choice Voting, giving voters the option of ranking up to five candidates to indicate their first, second, third, etc. choices. The "rounds" listed below refer to the vote tallying method, in which -- if the first choices of all voters yield no majority for any candidate -- the lowest vote-getter is eliminated, and the second choices for that candidate's votes are counted. If there is still no majority, the process continues until all candidates but one are eliminated, at which point the one who emerges with a majority in the one-on-one final round becomes the Democratic Party nominee in the November election.

Trans Political Prisoner Marius Mason Forced Back to Women's Prison
Bob Lederer brings us a segment focusing on Marius Mason, a trans political prisoner serving a 22-year sentence for destroying a genetic engineering laboratory and opposing logging as part of the Earth Liberation Front and the Animal Liberation Front. Under the Trump administration's anti-trans policies, Marius was recently transferred back to a women's prison and lost access to gender-affirming surgery. The show will feature an interview with Marius's lawyer, Moira Meltzer-Cohen, who will read a statement from Mason and give further background on his case, and the overall situation for trans people in federal prisons. This is part of Out-FM's ongoing "Queerly Defiant" series.
Listeners are urged to write to Marius to help him stay in touch with the progressive community around the country.
