Reclaiming Pride Amid Attacks on Roe v.Wade

Out-FM hosts John Riley and Naomi Brussel interview Reclaim Pride spokesperson Jay Walker and Jodi Nicole about the 4th annual Queer Liberation March titled the Queer Liberation March for Trans and BIPOC Freedom, Reproductive Justice, and Bodily Autonomy. The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, Asexual, Two-Spirit Plus (LGBTQIA2S+) people’s march will take place on Sunday, June 26th, starting in Foley Square at 2 PM and ending in Washington Square Park.

The Reclaim Pride Coalition’s announcement comes shortly after the bombshell leak that the Supreme Court will be overturning Roe v. Wade in June. Organizers say they hope the emphasis on trans lives in the context of reproductive justice will encourage marchers to look beyond just reinstating Roe v. Wade.

“Trans people in this country have been under consistent, appalling attacks for years, and we need the LGB community to finally show up for their trans siblings. We cannot be standing on the sidelines while states like Alabama are criminalizing trans healthcare and Texas is attempting to criminalize parental supervision of their trans childrens’ care” said Leah Entenmann, an organizer with RPC.

Out-FM will ask about the recent attacks on Trans and Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual people by the far right and what type of strategies we need to use to fight them.

Unholy War: Southern Baptist Convention Sexual Abuse Scandal

Michael McDonnell

Michael McDonnell of SNAP

On tonight’s program we’ll be exploring the burgeoning sex abuse scandal which in recent weeks has engulfed the Southern Baptist Convention or SBC for short. After decades of refusal to acknowledge the widespread problem, SBC has finally acknowledged at least 700 accused abusers. We’ll also look at recent developments nationally and in NY state regarding the Catholic Church’s ongoing effort to suppress and contain damage to their power and riches, caused by those seeking justice and reform from the Catholic Church, by survivors of sex abuse inflicted by the Catholic church’s priesthood and hierarchy. Our guests will be members of the Survivor Network of those Abused by Priests, or SNAP for short. Mike McDonnell is SNAP's Communications Manager. Bobby Sas is a SNAP leader of the LGBTQ Plus Support group and a former Southern Baptist. Contact SNAP at 877-762-7432 or  snapnetwork.org.

But first, we note the death of gay and AIDS activist Timothy Lunceford
